Businesses Outside Quebec – Get Ready for QST Changes Effective in 2019
In the Québec budget released on March 27, 2018, Québec announced the implementation of a new QST regime to collect QST from suppliers that are non-residents of Québec that will affect businesses starting in 2019.
Canadian businesses outside of Québec and businesses in foreign countries that sell taxable supplies in Québec will be required to register and collect QST where they earn $30,000 a year or more in revenue from certain Québec customers. Certain digital platforms (such as Amazon) will also be affected.
